- completing a module on time,
- getting certain marks in a quiz
- completing a task etc.
How to assign points and badges
Set up Gamification in Module or Learning Plan:
Create a new Module by expanding the Content tab and clicking on the Create link.
Select your module type, and fill in the module details. Click on the Gamification header on top of the module form. The gamification configuration section will be scrolled to your viewport.
How to Add a Badge in the Module
Click on the Plus icon. Then select "New" if you want to create a new one or "Existing" if you want to set an existing badge on the module.
Clicking on the Existing link will show a popup with currently created Module type badges, just select the one you want then it will get loaded into the module.
For now, we are creating a new Badge. Click on New. Expand the New Badge accordion that appeared.
Add a name for the Badge, set the image by uploading a new one or you can select an existing image from the media gallery. The Media gallery has some of the predefined images for the Badges already if you want you can use those too.
Go to the Badges (Global) folder to access the predefined Badge images.
The Badge type will be set to module automatically when you are creating a badge in a module.
Allotting criteria can be set on completion meaning the any learner who completed the module will get the Badge.
Or we can set it to Performance when we want the learner to achieve a certain score or points to achieve the Badge.
Performance badges can be allotted based on the actual value or a percentage value of either scores or points. Set the criteria and click on the Create button. Your badge will be created.
Keep on adding as many Badges as you may like.
How to Add Badge in a Learning Plan
Click on the Learning Plans link. Click on Add new. Scroll down to the Gamification area.
Click on the Plus icon beside the Badge label. Select New or Existing. The Badge form looks similar to the Badge form for the Module.
Fill in the Badge name, Image, and Allot on criteria- Completion/Performance.
Here completion allotment has more options.
- To First - Allotting Badge to some first-completing learners only.
- For First Days - Set a Badge to be achievable within the first few days only.
How to Add Points in Module
Click on the Plus icon adjacent to the Points.
Expand the Points configurations that appeared.
Add the points that you want to allot to the learner.
Allotment criteria can be set on Completion meaning that the learner will get the points as soon as he completes the module or it can be set on performance when we want the learner to achieve a certain Score criteria to achieve the points. The value of the points can a absolute or it can be in percentage terms.
How to Add Points in a the Learning Plan
Click on the Add Points button.
Add the points that you want to allot to the learner and the criteria. The criteria are the same as the Module.
How to Enable Leaderboard for Module:
Leaderboard options are only available for the Quiz type module. By enabling the Leaderboard checkbox, the learners attempting this module will be able to see the current leaderboard positions on the Quiz Module.
How to Create a Reward
Go to the Gamifications menu item, then click on the Reward link.
It will show a grid or card view of the current list of rewards.
Click on the Add New button to create a new reward.
The way to create a reward is to give it a Name, a Description, and Quantity if you want to limit the redemption of this reward or set it to unlimited if don't want to limit.
Add Eligibility points which basically tell how many points are required to redeem this reward. Add an image, this is optional. Set up scheduled dates, the reward will only be available to be redeemed between the set up scheduled dates.
Add the instructions like how to redeem this reward. Then click on the Save button.
Now the learners will be able to redeem this reward according to the eligibility points set. After redeeming, the learners will be able to see which rewards they have redeemed till now in their dashboards.
Rewards Reporting
When some of the learners have started redeeming the reward then you can check a detailed report of which learners have redeemed which rewards from the Rewards Reporting sections.
To see the reporting, expand the Reporting menu item and click on Rewards Report. All the rewards which have been redeemed are shown here.
You can change the reporting criteria to filter the data according to some particular learners, or by reward to see all the learners who have redeemed a certain reward, or you can also filter the data according to any profile.
Grid columns show - the name, username of the learner, reward name, email ID, points that were used by the learner, redeemed on a date, fulfilled on a date and a switcher to make the learner as fulfilled.
And of course, you can export the filtered report by clicking on the export button just below the Grid.
Creating & Managing Leaderboards
To create a new Leaderboard, go to the Gamification menu item and then click on Leaderboard.
Here you will see all the leaderboards that are available in your system. All the active leaderboards are also visible to the learners. You can switch between the Grid and Card view by clicking on the icons provided on the right side of the Page heading.
To create a New Leaderboard, click on the Add New button.
To create a new leaderboard, you need to fill in the name of the leaderboard, description is optional and saved for your reference, then comes the criteria. All the learners that fall in the set criteria for the leaderboard are considered to calculate the ranks for this leaderboard.
Let's say you want to create a leaderboard for a Particular profile that completed a particular module in a particular learning plan, you will select those particular profiles, learning, and module for the leaderboard. Then set the measurement whether you want to give ranks according to the scores the learners earned or the points that learner earned. Then click on Save.
To view the current positions of the newly created learning plan:
Grid View: Click on the Leaderboard icon in the new leaderboard row.
Card View: Click on the View button present in the newly created Leaderboard card.
This is how you can view the learners with their ranks. You can download the leaderboard data in a pdf. You can click on the Share button to copy a link to a public link for this leaderboard. Anyone with this link can view the participants in the leaderboard.
Creating and Managing Badges
To create a new badge or view all the existing existing badges, go to the Gamification menu item and then click on Badges.
Here the list of all the Badges will be shown. You can edit any existing Badges from here. You can delete a Badge if it is not used in any of the Learning plans or Modules.
Grid's Actions column exists of: Edit, Delete, Enable/Disable, and Logs buttons.
Disabled Badge will not be assigned to any learner. To see all the learners that have a particular badge, we can use the logs button.
To create a New Badge, Click on the Add New button.
The create form consists of the same configurations which are available for Badges.
Add the name of the Badge, Image, and type of the Badge whether it is a Learning plan or a Module type Badge, then select the Learning plan(s)/ Module(s) for allotting this Badge. Set up the allotment condition as Completion meaning that the learner will get this Badge as soon as he completes the module or it can be set on Performance when we want the learner to achieve a certain Score or Points criteria to achieve this Badge. The value of Score or Points can be set to an absolute value or it can be a percentage.
Then click on Save or Save & New to continue creating Badges, now you have created a new Badge.
